I just read a book that challenged some of my preconceptions. I cried, agreed, questioned, felt conviction, and knocked down some walls containing my view of God. The book is fiction, but full of so many truths. I don’t want to write a book report or give away the plot, so decided to share some quotes with you. Maybe these will intrigue you enough to cause you to pick up and read this novel.
“A child is protected because she is loved, not because she has the right to be protected.”
“Tears can be healing waters and a stream of joy. Sometimes they are the best words the heart can speak.”
“But your choices are also not stronger than my purposes, and I will use every choice you make for the ultimate good and the most loving outcome.”
“Grace doesn’t depend on suffering to exist, but where there is suffering you will find grace in many facets and colors.”
“Rules cannot bring freedom; they only have the power to accuse.”
“We are in a circle of relationship, not a chain of command . . . relationship without any overlay of power. We don’t need power over the other because we are always looking out for the best.”
“You must give up your right to decide what is good and evil on your own terms, choosing to only live in me. To do that you must know me enough to trust me and learn to rest in my inherent goodness.”
“So many believe that it is love that grows, but it is the knowing that grows and love simply expands to contain it.”
“You have judged them worthy of love, even if it cost you everything. That is how Jesus loves. And now you know Papa’s heart, who loves all his children perfectly.”
“I don’t want to be first among a list of values; I want to be at the center of everything.”
“Just because I work incredible good out of unspeakable tragedies doesn’t mean I orchestrate the tragedies. Don’t assume that my using something means I caused it or that I need it to accomplish my purposes.”
